Our Mission:
Georgia Force Assistance Brigades(GFAB) are the State’s volunteer “boots on the ground” force, trained to conduct debris and route clearance, search and rescue, National Guard augmentation, and community support operations in support of civil authorities and Georgia communities during emergencies and disasters.
Looking for Volunteers With Skills in:
- Search & Rescue (Urban or Wilderness)
- Land Navigation & Field craft
- Chainsaw / Debris & Route Clearance
- Emergency / Disaster Response
- Communications (radio, IT, signal)
- Medical (EMT, nurse, medic, first aid/CPR)

The GFABs, Georgia State Defense Force, provides trained, volunteer “boots on the ground” forces to rapidly support Georgia communities, augment the Georgia National Guard, and assist civil authorities during emergencies, disasters, and steady-state missions across the State of Georgia under Defense Support to Civil Authorities (DSCA).
The brigades trains and maintains proficiency in its mission-essential tasks: debris and route clearance, urban and wilderness search and rescue, Georgia National Guard augmentation, and community support operations including points of distribution and humanitarian assistance. GFABs also conducts supporting and secondary missions such as communications, medical aid, access control and traffic management, liaison and landing zone operations, and disaster relief support to state and local agencies.
Through realistic training and integration with the Georgia Department of Defense, Georgia National Guard, emergency management agencies, and local authorities, GFABs delivers mission-ready Soldiers capable of rapid response to natural disasters, man-made incidents, and community needs.
